Exploring the User Base of Online Neighborhood Networks: Determinants of Online Neighborhood Network Membership and Uses

This paper aims to determine the prevalence of use online neighborhood networks (ONNs) and explores which socio-demographic, socioeconomic status (SES), social integration, media determinants predict ONN membership uses. Drawing on a stratified random sample (Ghent, Belgium), we found that over third population are members was mainly predicted by socio-demographic characteristics. Also, in contrast prior research, our results show ONNs local territory residents lower SES, whom these means connecting with capitalizing connections.
